The re-launch of the Bible Institute
18 mars 2026 After a break of over six months, classes at the Bible Institute have finally resumed! This long break was mainly because Pastor Amedome, who teaches the classes alongside Alexandre, was too busy with the construction of Phase 1 of the project; he and his team were busy laying all the electrical wiring.
We are grateful that the number of students has doubled! A total of 12 students have now enrolled. The students meet three evenings a week – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings – in the New Tyrannus building. Would you please join us in praying for perseverance for these students who are attending this evening course alongside their regular jobs or activities? In addition to the lessons, they are also given homework and, of course, must prepare for tests and exams.
The Bible Institute, which was previously an evening school in one of the EGCT church buildings, is now part of a larger entity: Institut Biblique Tyrannus. In the Tyrannus building, the renting out of the conference hall and the income from the printing press will, in due course, contribute to the financial sustainability of the Bible Institute. But we’re not there yet! Renting out the conference hall will be difficult whilst construction of Phase 2 is still in full swing, and the container containing all the furniture has not yet arrived. The Board of Trustees of ‘Institut Biblique Tyrannus’ recently met and approved a budget for 2026. In addition to identifying a number of necessary items, such as a telephone, a second laptop, a doorbell system, etc., the board has also decided to 'employ' two people (neither of whom will receive a full salary by any means!). Both are members of our churches and have a passion for sharing the Gospel. Aimé studied accounting and will, for the time being, mainly oversee the purchase of all building materials for Phase 2 of the construction and the associated administration. We hope that, following the completion of Phase 2, he will be able to progress to become the new manager of Tyrannus, as the conference hall will then,we hope de rented out on a regular basis. Amevi is a secretary and will be responsible for taking minutes, helping Alex type up course materials for the Bible school, and she is also typing all the content for the Tyrannus website, which is currently under development. Together, they are also in the process of phoning all 300 pastors who attended our first ‘proper’ conference last December. We ask for their permission to add them to the ‘Tyrannus WhatsApp mailing list’. Through this mailing list, we will be able to keep this entire group of church leaders informed about Tyrannus activities taking place or new developments. In addition, the EGCT elders can be a blessing to this group of ministers by sharing the clear Gospel with them through an encouraging article or an audio file.
As Tyrannus does not yet have a source of income but we still wish to proactively build a well-functioning organisation, and we require start-up capital, we are seeking individuals or churches who could support the Institute on a monthly basis for a period of three years and/or make a one-off donation. Please contact us if you would like more details or to view the Tyrannus 2026 Budget.
