Buy a chair for Tyrannus

In recent months, we have often been amazed to see how God has provided for many details surrounding the Tyrannus Institute project. It is obviously a big project, and we pray that the Lord will continue to provide for it in the future, too!

Apart from the construction work itself, many other things are needed. For example, we are looking for 500 high-quality, stackable chairs for the conference room. The locally available Chinese chairs are poor quality, and when we found a batch of second-hand stackable chairs (that looked worn out) in Lome, they were very expensive. Second-hand, good-quality Dutch stacking chairs would be a good option but shipping them to Togo is a challenge. Filling an entire container and sending it all at once would also be very expensive.

A fortnight ago, I received an app from a friend living in Germany. She had to see a physiotherapist, who turned out to be Togolese from Atakpamé. Like Alex, Alberto turned out to be Ifè. How is that possible? Ifè is spoken by very few people worldwide, most of whom live in and around Atakpamé. This week, Alberto was visiting family in Atakpamé and Alexandre got a call from him, after which we were able to invite him. In Africa, ethnic ties are strong, and immediately Alexandre and Alberto had a friendly conversation in Ifè. Naturally, the project came up for discussion and our desire to ship things from the Netherlands.

 As it turns out, Alberto has been shipping things to Togo regularly through a friend for over 15 years. The friend was called immediately to ask if he could also ship things from the Netherlands. That would not be a problem, and Alberto is going to help us negotiate the price in due course!

Now that we have found a reliable transporter, the option of good second-hand chairs becomes even more attractive. We estimate that we need an amount of around 25 pounds per chair (including transport). Those who would like to donate a chair to our conference centre can make a one-off donation to our UFM project account.
